C47 Week Two

Production for the pilot C47 has wrapped week two.

This week was a very ambitious week, and ambitious might be an understatement! Between week one and two art department and construction swooped into the warehouse to build and dress the "Marketplace" that would accommodate 100 extras plus principal cast. Along with marketplace three other sets were built for second week production.

Kicking off friday we went into shooting the first scene with the red mounted on a 18' ft pixy crane with remote head to capture the marketplace and tea house. The scenes that would follow involved careful character blocking for green scene effects captured with the camera on the crane. 70 ft of green screen was flown in lighted with an array of fixtures. Leko 750s along with single kino 4' 625 red SFC's hung on stalls created the atmosphere of the marketplace. Nate Pesce (DOP) used the Lekos for keys on the principals creating shafts of light complementing the atmosphere of the marketplace.

Day five of production included 100 extras that would be vendors and shoppers in the marketplace. Production staff was put to the challenged of blocking the extras within the space, and making sure the spill from the green screen would not read in picture. VFX supervisor Jamie Noguchi had a lot on his plate working with the picture for all the green screen work this weekend.

Day six of production involved scenes that would include fighting and practical FX in every scene in small spaces.
